Feeding Frenzy

Growing boys love to eat!! We've been working on solids for almost a month now, and are happy to report that we are getting much better at it!! Mommy has been working very hard at making our baby food - some we like and others not so much!! Brock is our star eater most of the time. He is a very distracted bottle drinker- too many things to look at and watch, but when it comes to food, watch out!! He's a champ. I guess there's just more action involved with a bowl and spoon!! Kyle is improving greatly, but would probably be just as happy to continue one with only his beloved bottle for a while longer. He seems to have a very sensitive gag reflex (apparently a Leman trait:), and gags on almost every new thing we try. So far, the favorites seem to be peaches ("whew", says Mommy, considering all of the time and effort she put into making peach puree and the amount we have in the freezer!!:), bananas, sweet potatoes, and green beans - but only for Brock. Peas, definitely not a favorite, especially for Kyle. Those may take a few tries to get used to. Thanks to Grandpa Martin for all of the garden produce that is quickly becoming turned into baby food and frozen. Brock and Kyle will enjoy the fruits of his "labor of love" for many months!! As a side note, Brock has his first tooth!! Daddy found it yesterday at church. Oh the eating we will do as those things continue to come in!!

Here we are, all bibbed up and ready to go. As you can see, this is a favorite time for Brock. Kyle would almost rather chew on his bib as it doesn't make him gag :).

"My fingers are my favorite. Are you sure I have to do this???"

"Bring it on!!! I'm ready to go!!"

Kyle's drool seems to make everything thinner and tends to pool!! This is an early shot, and Mommy's learned to make his a little thicker, as he has his own thinning capabilities!!

"Yummy in my tummy" (sorry about the red eye - missed that one!!)

"Can I please just be finished and go back to playing??"

"Gone already?? I'm just getting started!!"

"Watching brother eat is definitely more fun that eating it myself!!"

So cute!! Can you see my bed-head on the right?? Mommy needed to plaster that part down!!

Cereal and Peaches in my eye?? Don't worry, Daddy is getting the wash cloth to save the day!!

"Another shot, Mommy??? Someone clean me up!!"

Brock has a new found talent, the remnants of which you can see on his tray. He figured out on his own that when you spit with your mouth full, fun things happen!! Mommy thinks it's funny, but Daddy says "No No!!". Mommy will have to stop laughing before this becomes a real problem and join Daddy in the "No No". Discipline requires a united front, right?? Who'd have thought it would have to start at 6 months old??
