In September, we were blessed to be able to go on vacation in Destin, FL with Grammy, Papa, and Aunt Kara. The first crew left on a Friday evening and drove to FL, spreading their travels over 3 days and having lots of fun along the way. The 2nd crew (Mommy, Daddy and Ali) flew down on Tuesday morning to join them at the beach. We were thankful that Papa could get a van big enough for all of us to fit in, and with 3 big car seats and luggage for 8, that is quite a feat!!
They had to wait until the boys were done with swimming lessons on Friday evening, so they didn't get a very early start. They spent the majority of the day on Saturday in Chattanooga, TN - exploring a cave and visiting the aquarium there (which they said was AWESOME!!). Then on Sunday, they stopped to spend time with some family in Birmingham, AL, and finally finished their trip and checked in to our resort on Monday.
Ali and us hopped a plane on Tuesday morning - it was Ali's first flight (if you don't count her trip to FL when she was still in Mommy's tummy:). We had a brief layover in Atlanta, and Ali did great on the whole trip down!
And my silly guys, filling the waiting time in the hallway:).
Our hotel had a boardwalk and harbor in front of it, so our beach was a little private island out in the bay. We had to ride a shuttle boat over to the beach area, and the boys thought this was just grand!!
Experiencing the gulf water for the first time - I think she likes it!!
This guy was all about the water. He spent most of his days floating and swimming.
This guy was all about the sand. He spent most of his days digging and making roads.
Oops!! Don't let that get too far from you!
Aunt Kara and Brock - working on his technique:).
More sand work.
He was happy as a clam!
Ali loved the water, but she wasn't as fond of the sand. So she spent a lot of time doing this - walking with Grammy on the beach. She loved to watch the water and just took it all in.
I think Grammy enjoyed it, too ;).
Daddy and Ali - hanging out:).
Still working in the sand.
This is the sand castle that Aunt Kara and the boys built on another of our beach excursions. It was quite grand - and just before I took this pic, a big seagull flew in and sat in the "courtyard" of the castle.
We learned very quickly after the first day that it was much easier to let Ali float in the water rather than hold her the whole time, and she loved to be on her own in the middle of the action.
Mommy and Ali - enjoying the water.
